In tunnel and highway construction, the handling of excavated material directly impacts project progress, cost control, and environmental performance. Recently, in a highway tunnel construction project, a combined solution comprising Powertrack mobile impact crushing unit PT Pro I-13DS and mobile screening unit PT Pro SC-08E transformed waste tunnel excavation waste into high-quality aggregate, achieving resource recycling and maximizing economic benefits.

Flexible Operation, Keeping Pace with Construction
The mobile impact crushing unit PT Pro I-13DS and the screening unit PT Pro SC-08E can moves by tracks, allowing for flexible deployment at temporary stockpiles near tunnel exits. This significantly reduces material transportation and enables a seamless “excavation-crushing-screening-utilization” workflow, perfectly adapting to the construction characteristics of tunnel projects, such as segmental advancement and dynamic changes in the working face.
High-Efficiency Crushing, Stable Output
The impact crushing unit PT Pro I-13DS is equipped with a single-chamber impact crusher and a high-efficiency rotor, easily handling 500-millimeter tunnel excavation waste. The resulting aggregate exhibits excellent particle shape—with a high proportion of good particles—fully meeting the requirements for high-quality engineering materials. In this project, the equipment consistently achieved a processing capacity of 180–200 tons/hour, providing a sufficient supply of raw materials to support continuous construction.
Precise Screening, Four Sizes of End Products
After primary crushing, the mixed material immediately enters the mobile screening unit PT Pro SC-08E for precise screening, ultimately producing four distinct grades of finished aggregate with excellent gradation. This aggregate can be directly used in various construction phases, such as concrete mixing, roadbed sub-bases, and pavement sub-bases, achieving 100% on-site recycling of resources.
Customer Benefits
More Than Just Efficiency—Comprehensive Benefits
The equipment directly converts tunnel excavation waste into high-value building materials on-site, eliminating the costs of purchasing and transporting aggregate from external sources. This self-production and self-use model significantly reduces the project’s overall material costs.
Both units can be operated via a wireless remote control system, enabling a single operator to remotely control movement, operations, and shutdown. This significantly reduces labor requirements and safety risks, offering distinct advantages in complex environments such as tunnel portals.
Upon project completion, this mobile equipment can be quickly relocated to the next construction site to continue generating value, thereby avoiding the risk of sunk costs associated with fixed production lines. It offers extremely high asset utilization and return on investment.
